Temporary AWOL:Apologies for the prolonged absence. Last year I came across number of people who turned out to be selling my work without permission on online photo sharing websites. I was contacted after someone purchased images and then realised they were not printable size, and I was in fact not the seller. It bewildered me that anyone thought they could sell web-sized images complete with my name and watermark printed at the bottom which are not even of high enough resolution to print on a postcard.. but there you go. Apart from the fact that I do this for free as a personal interest, and that I'm very protective of my own work, I won't dare to think how horrible those prints from low res web files would have come out. I'm afraid at that point I felt a little bit uncharitable and decided to just pull the lot. Thankfully the situation is resolved.. for now.

If you would like to get a hold of a print of any photograph, please contact me. I can put together very high quality reproductions of almost any size (ok.. I've got a two metre wide one in my lounge.. probably thats the limit) and at least you'll not have pixellation and an ugly web address at the bottom. :-). I did not set out for money, but if people are prepared to shell out for poor quality versions, I may as well offer the real thing (and probably for less).

I hope you like some of the new stuff.

Scottish Metal is my personal attempt at capturing the colour of Scotland's past railway scene in photographs, and also to document the history of those closed lines which we can no longer use.

As many more characterful locomotives and trains pass into the scrapyards and thus into history, my goal has been to immortalize some of their character and atmosphere.

While the current scene of ultra-efficient (read boring) all-in-one trains without locos has destroyed all current interest, I still regard the time spent footering about the highlands in a tent looking for the perfect spot as time thoroughly well spent.

I no longer have much interest in the railways, as such my latest work mostly consnists of landscapes and abandonment/urbex. Were it not for my exposure to some of the country's greatest scenery by train, I would possibly not have gained the appreciation I now have.

I hope you enjoy the results.
